You Are I AM

MercyMe

You Are I Am

The veil is torn
And now I live with the Spirit inside
The same one, the very same one
who brought the Son back to life

Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me
Hallelujah, He lives in me

You’re the one who conquers giants
You’re the one who calls out kings
You shut the mouths of lions
You tell the dead to breathe
You’re the one who walks through fire
You take the orphan’s hand
You are the one Messiah
You are I am
You are I am

Who Was Melchizedek?

melchizedek_angelic

FEW MYSTERIES of the Bible have attracted more interest than the mystery of the identity of Melchizedek. Who is he?

You will read in Hebrews 6:19-20 that Jesus Christ, after His resurrection, is High Priest “after the order of Melchizedek.” The plainer English of the Moffatt translation words it: “. . with the rank of” that is, equal status with “Melchizedek.”

Melchizedek Was God‘s Priest

First, notice from both Old and New Testaments that the man of mystery, Melchizedek, was a priest of the Most High God. Turn ‘low to the account in Genesis 14. During the war between a number of ancient city-states in Canaan and Mesopotamia, Abraham’s nephew Lot had been captured. He and his family and goods were carted off.

One of their number escaped and brought the news to Abraham, who armed 318 of his own servants and pursued the invaders to what was later named Dan and beyond. Abraham rescued Lot and his family and returned them safely to the Canaanite cities.

On Abraham’s return a man of mystery bursts upon the scene. Abraham was ministered to by Melchizedek.

Here is the account:

“And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High. And he [Melchizedek] blessed him [Abraham] and said, ‘Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!’ And Abram gave him [Melchizedek] a tenth of everything” that is, a tithe of all, for a tithe means a tenth (Genesis 14:18-20, RSV).

Notice that Melchizedek was king of Salem. That is the city of Jerusalem. “Salem” comes from the Hebrew word meaning “peace.” That would make Melchizedek the “King of Peace” (Hebrews 7:2). The Hebrew name Melchizedek itself means “King of Righteousness” (Hebrews 7:2). The same individual is mentioned in Psalm 110:4. Speaking prophetically of Christ, David stated: “The Eternal hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” This verse is quoted again in Hebrews 5:6, 10.

Before we turn to Hebrews for the identification of Melchizedek, remember that this mystery figure is a mystery only to us. Abraham and the King of wicked Sodom knew exactly who he was. They must have seen him before. He could not have been a Canaanite, for they were steeped in pagan customs. And furthermore Canaan was a descendant of Ham, whereas God basically chose the descendants of Shem to accomplish His work.

Then who is the mystery man Melchizedek?

One other hint before we proceed. The land of Canaan from ancient time, before the days of Moses, was known among the Gentiles as “the divine land” the Holy land” the land of the place of worship!” Why? Was there someone in the Holy Land who was divine, holy, worthy of worship?

Judging Others

I see a lot of incorrect articles on Judging, and have heard many things that are not correct either.

The Bible does not say do not judge. We are in fact told to judge, look it up.

When judging…judge actions, not people. Judging people is where you will get into trouble…that is God’s job not yours.

NEW AGE THINKING part one

By Neil Anderson

April 18

Psalm 83:18 NIV
Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD–that you alone are the Most High over all the earth

The New Age Movement is very attractive to the natural man who has become disillusioned with organized religion and Western rationalism. He desires spiritual reality but doesn’t want to give up materialism, deal with his moral problems, or come under authority.

I’ve discovered six unifying factors in New Age thinking. We will consider three of them today and three tomorrow.

The first is monism –the belief that all is one and one is all. It says we all swim in one great cosmic ocean. History is not the story of humanity’s fall into sin and its restoration by God’s saving grace. Rather, it is humanity’s fall into ignorance and the gradual ascent into enlightenment.

Monism is a counterfeit to the unity Jesus prayed for in John 17:21. That unity is possible only when we are united together in Christian fellowship.

Second, all is God . If all is one, including God, then one must conclude that all is God–trees, snails, books and people are all of one divine essence. A personal God is abandoned in favor of an impersonal energy force or consciousness, and if God is no longer personal, He doesn’t have to be served.

New Agers say, “When I was a little child, I believed in God. When I began to mature, I stopped believing in God. Then I grew up and realized that I was God.”

A third unifying factor refers to a change in consciousness . If we are God, we need to know we are God. We must become cosmically conscious, also called “at-one-ment” (a counterfeit of atonement), self-realization, god-realization, enlightenment, or attunement. Their faith has no object, neither does their meditation, so it becomes an inward journey. To us, the essential issue is not whether we believe or mediate, but who we believe in and what we meditate upon. We believe God and meditate upon His law day and night.

Prayer: Lord, I affirm that I am nothing, can do nothing, and will amount to nothing apart from You. You are the object of my faith and life today.

THE POWER OF THE BELIEVER

By Neil Anderson

April 14

John 8:32
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free

When I was a boy on the farm, my dad, my brother and I would visit our neighbor’s farm to share produce and labor. The neighbor had a yappy little dog that scared the socks off me. When it came barking around the corner, my dad and brother stood their ground, but I ran. Guess who the dog chased! I escaped to the top of our pickup truck while the little dog yapped at me from the ground.

Everyone except me could see that the little dog had no power over me except what I gave it. Furthermore, it had no inherent power to throw me up on the pickup; it was my belief that put me up there. That dog controlled me by using my mind, my emotions, my will, and my muscles, all of which were motivated by fear. Finally I gathered up my courage, jumped off the pickup, and kicked a small rock at the mutt. Lo and behold, it ran!

Satan is like that yappy little dog: deceiving people into fearing him more than God. His power is in the lie. He is the father of lies (John 8:44) who deceives the whole world (Revelation 12:9), and consequently the whole world is under the influence of the evil one (1 John 5:19). He can do nothing about your position in Christ, but if he can deceive you into believing his lies about you and God, you will spend a lot of time on top of the pickup truck! You don’t have to outshout him or outmuscle him to be free of his influence. You just have to outtruth him. Believe, declare, and act upon the truth of God’s Word, and you will thwart Satan’s strategy.

I have learned from the Scriptures and my experience that truth is the liberating agent. The power of Satan is in the lie, and the power of the believer is in knowing the truth. We are to pursue truth, not power.

Prayer: Father God, when Satan is badgering and confusing me, remind me that Your Holy Spirit within me is greater than all the evil around me.

Do you know you have been listening to the voice of Satan?

©2013 πίστις

Do you hear the voice of One calling? Or is the only voice that can save you drowned out by the voice of the world?

Who speaks louder, Christ or the world? For many the world is louder…and the world is the voice that matters most.

If this world truly had a voice it would be the voice of Satan. God told us that the path is narrow and few find it. The road to destruction however is wide and easily traveled. The broad road of destruction is the world’s road, and most are on it.

The Bible says deny yourself, the world says grab it all…take everything you can get.
The Bible says homosexuality is wrong and is forbidden. The world says its no big deal, to each there own, it’s just another lifestyle.
The Bible says we cannot have any other god before Adonai, the world says all gods are good, except that God of the Christians.
The bible says Jesus Christ is the only way to God, the world says sure He is one way, there are others.

Ever heard it said the majority rules? That is society in general especially today. If you can get enough people to accept a new idea, it will become the norm. How has the world done this?

Take the Bible and what it tells us, the commandments of God and how we are to live etc. These things use to mean something, now the way of God means nothing to many. The world has indoctrinated the masses into this belief. How has this been done? The biggest way that the influence of the world has changed how people see God is by getting people to view themselves differently.

In God’s eyes we are here to serve Him and glorify Him…that is our main objective in life. Now the world comes along with it’s many anti-God theologians and says, “that’s not true, YOU deserve better than that”. The most important thing in life…is YOU. Forget all that humble serving crap, serve yourself, you are worth it baby!

Think about all the add slogans over the years, they are more and more geared to people serving themselves and getting what they want as fast as they can get it!

Treat yourself; you deserve it
You’re worth it baby!
There is only one you!
Give yourself the best; you earned it!
You work hard for your money; use how you like!

How about sporting events in the schools? Everybody gets a trophy and a ribbon. There are no losers anymore, well I’m sorry but someone does win, and someone does lose. The world just constantly bombards us with the message that the most important thing is self, nice guys finish last. The happiest guy or gal, well that is the one that has all the toys, or has all the latest fashions and accessories. You know the one that has that fabulous house, money and vacations etc?

Did you know that many people who “have it all” are absolutely miserable inside? Did you know that some of the loneliest people in the world are the ones with enormous wealth? Do you realize that many super popular people really feel inadequate inside? How about the ones who are busy keeping up with the Joneses? Many people actually feel empty inside, if you asked them and they were honest…they would tell you they do not feel like they have a purpose in life.

Look at the world around you, the state of today’s world has a direct correlation to the new god of this world that reigns supreme…and it is NOT Satan. Oh no, Satan himself has ordained this new god, his name is…self. You see, Satan gets a lot more mileage out of selfishness then he does anything else.

Time is short; there really is not a lot of it left. Listen to the voice of One calling today and submit yourself to Him today. If you can read this and think so what, well it may be too late for you already, God will not strive with man forever. In fact, you do not know when your last day is, and given current events, you do not know how much time you have here on earth.

The most powerful force on earth: Words

Some people would name a particular weapon (nuclear bombs?) as the most powerful weapon on earth, and to a point that is correct for obvious reasons. Some might even name death as the most powerful force. Death is a powerful force to be sure, but far from the most powerful.

When death claims a person, well there will be no more suffering here on earth anyway. Bombs and guns and other things kill, they cause pain and suffering. Usually one will heal from these things unless the obvious happens and a person is killed. Yes the pain may be substantial, and may even be long lasting.

Be that as it may…all things pale in comparison to the force of words. Think back in your own life for a moment, what are some of your most powerful memories connected to? I am willing to bet words were involved, both good and bad.

If a person was lets say physically abused, well as terrible as that is…the pain goes away and the bruises heal. I do not want to minimize physical abuse, this is very serious and can be deadly.

Still, all things considered, what sticks with you the most are words. Words have tremendous power to hurt, and the hurt can and does often far outlast physical pain. Some of the most painful memories I have revolve around words.

Children especially will remember the negative hurtful words much more than the positive ones that are spoken to them. As a rule we tend to remember the hurtful words more than the positive ones, this is just our human nature. 8-10 positive affirmations are needed to overcome one negative.

The words we speak can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life, especially the negative ones. Many people will tell you about words spoken to them by a parent that stuck with them for life. Because a person chooses to forgive does not mean the pain just disappears.

When speaking to others, emailing, posting on Facebook, and tweeting on Twitter…choose the words you use with care. Even things said innocently may cause pain, be careful what you say. In our discussions with others, especially our Christian brothers and sisters…we need to be mindful of what words we say, or write.

Is this worth saying? Is this worth writing? Might these words hurt even though I don’t mean to? Is this argument worth the pain it might cause? Do I really need to be right? At what cost to my brother or sister?

Understand folks…I am not pointing fingers here. Matter of fact, to be honest I recently offended and hurt a very good friend of mine. I will not name names of course, but I am truly sorry to have done this, it was not intentional. It was this occurrence that prompted the writing of this post.

Just please…be careful in your choice of words. Think on this a moment if you will…wars are started how? Words. Marriages end why? Words. Friendships are destroyed how? Words. Peoples’ reputations are destroyed how? Words.

Pictures are worth a thousand words they say, I say that is not true. Words can completely and totally destroy a person, can even cause a person to commit suicide.

Words can also build a person up and change who they are for the good. Look at how you have changed due to the words of Jesus Christ.

We are Living in the Final Days…is Jesus your Savior??

You really need to see this, the end is not that far off. Are you saved? Regardless of your stance on the tribulation, the end of all things is not that far away.

I personally believe many Believers are not aware of how soon this may happen. Assuredly those who do not believe have no idea. Many Believers deny the truth that is right in front of them, things are occurring at a fast pace in the world and in the heavens. We who speak the truth are accused of being fear mongers. There is no fear here, merely a serious warning…I hope all of you reading this know Jesus. If you do not, accept Him today!

If you hear His voice, if you are on the fence…I implore you, heed His words, accept the invitation of the Holy Spirit today. You might not have another chance! Setting aside the tribulation and the End Times, accidents happen…here today gone tomorrow. You most likely know someone who unexpectedly passed, or you know of someone who knows that someone. The point is that many people think they have time…you do not in fact know this. Today may be your last day…are taking a chance with your eternal destination? Once you die…it is to late to change your position, upon your death…you will know Jesus IS real, He IS the Lord…only then it will be to late to accept Him as your Savior. Do it now while you still have time…please!

Please head over to Vine of Life News and read the article, then watch the video all the way through to the end…then decide for yourself. We (Vine of Life staff) are committed to getting the word out about the End Times and what is currently happening. We would see all people saved.

God Bless
Greg

The evidence for God

So many look for evidence of God and seem not to find it. I have heard, “I need to see a miracle”, “I need to see suffering in the world end”, and other comments. These are all nothing but lame excuses to not believe in God.

Evidence for God:

  1. How about the most complicated technical original creation in the world, humans.
  2. How about birds that can fly thousands of miles home, having never been there before.
  3. How about animals that naturally know what to do in a given situation by “instinct”.
  4. How about the universe itself; scientists say it should not even exist.
  5. How about the earth, do you REALLY believe this extremely complex ecosystem got here all by itself?
  6. How about your own conscience, where do you suppose that came from?

Comatose…

“Comatose”

I hate feeling like this
I’m so tired of trying to fight this
I’m asleep and all I dream of

Is waking to you
Tell me that you will listen
Your touch is what I’m missing
And the more I hide I realize I’m slowly losing you

Comatose
I’ll never wake up without an overdose of you

[Chorus:]
I don’t wanna live
I don’t wanna breathe
‘les I feel you next to me
you take the pain I feel
waking up to you never felt so real
I don’t wanna sleep
I don’t wanna dream
’cause my dreams don’t comfort me
The way you make me feel
Waking up to you never felt so real

I hate living without you
Dead wrong to ever doubt you
But my demons lay in waiting
Tempting me away
Oh how I adore you
Oh how I thirst for you
Oh how I need you

Comatose
I’ll never wake up without an overdose of you

[Chorus]

Breathing life
Waking up
My eyes open up

Comatose
I’ll never wake up without an overdose of you

[Chorus]

Oh how I adore you
Waking up to you never felt so real
Oh how I thirst for you
Waking up to you never felt so real
Oh how I adore you, ohhhh
The way you make me feel
Waking up to you never felt so real

God Can Do Anything, Nothing is Impossible for Him; Correct?

God can do anything, anything at all right? Wrong.

God cannot do all things, be careful in thinking that all things are possible for God because that is untrue.

God cannot:

  1. Lie
  2. Cheat
  3. Murder
  4. Steal
  5. Be subject to time
  6. Be less the all He promises

Do you know the truth?

Truth, a very relative term these days. What exactly is the truth anyway? Who defines this “truth”?

The way of the world is to make truth anything you the individual thinks it ought to be at any given time.

I say, and not I but the Lord…there is only One Truth, and that is God. The Truth of God is in the Bible, and the Lord Himself IS Truth. This simple concept needs to be taught today…shouted from the rooftops in fact!

Revelation Song…

Revelation Song: written by Jennie Lee Riddle
                              sung by Meredith Andrews

Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and
Glory and power be
To You the Only Wise King,

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And I will adore You…!

Philippians 4:6-7

Today’s guest post is written by Corey Alderin, you can learn more about Corey at the end of this article.

Screen Shot 2013-03-07 at 9.04.48 PM

Philippians 4:6-7Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do not be anxious about anything

Do not worry about the things in this life.  However, the original text in this passage was not intending to say that you should be careless.  You still need to be wise with your finances, provide and protect your family, live a healthy life, etc.  Put your full faith in God, and if you believe he cares for your needs, there is nothing to be stressed about.

But in everything

This truly means EVERYTHING.  And anytime, anywhere, and as much as you want.

By prayer and petition

Petition is used as a more specific type of prayer which refers to prayer for you specific wants and needs.

With thanksgiving

In your prayers, always thank God for the good things he has given you in your life.  There is always something you can think of that he has provided you with (life, forgiveness, etc.).

And the peace of God

God will give us peace in all our anxieties and we will remain at peace, as long as we continue to trust in God.

Which transcends all understanding

The peace given from God is a peace that is better than any other source and when experienced, can only be explained by God.

Will guard your hearts and your minds

God will guard you from your anxieties.  “Hearts” represents your wants, needs, and passions.  And “minds” represents your conscience and understanding.

In Christ Jesus

This gift is given to all who believe in Jesus.

The truth about the pursuit of Wisdom

Thinking, something we all do so I hope! God in His wisdom gave us the ability to think.

If however you desire wisdom, that you must ask for. The usual route to obtaining wisdom is through life experience. It also takes the ability to receive correction and constructive criticism.

If you desire wisdom, then open yourself to instruction, and decide that when that trial hits…you are going to learn from it.

God has Time Right?

God has all the time in the world or anywhere for that matter right? Actually no He does not.

God is outside of time, time means nothing to God, never has never will.

We on the other hand are linked into time and we only have so much of it. Use your time wisely.

“Not for A Moment”

Not for A Moment (After All)
Meredith Andrews

And every step every breath you are there
Every tear every cry every prayer
In my hurt at my worst
When my world falls down
Not for a moment will You forsake me
Even in the dark
Even when it’s hard
You will never leave me
After all

The Word of God

The Word of God is an amazing resource, filled with all we need as Believers to live a life that is pleasing to God.

The Word only has one drawback to it that I can see, you actually have to open it and read it for the Word to be of any use to you.

Did you spend any time in the Bible today?

The Open Door of the Gospel

We never as Believers outgrow or move beyond the Gospel. When we first believe in the Gospel of Christ, we are looking through an open door into the Gospel.

As we grow and learn in Christ, we merely walk through that open door and begin to explore all the many rooms that are contained within the Gospel.
